The Knowledge Exchange Coordinator will serve as the point of coordination for all activities associated with USGBC’s Knowledge Exchange. Scope of work includes oversight of the physical Knowledge Center located at USGBC headquarters, as well as assisting in launch, organization and maintenance of the upcoming, online Knowledge Exchange. This web portal will serve as the primary public face and interactive platform for USGBC’s library of green building education resources. Additionally, the Knowledge Exchange serves a cross-organizational, collaborative initiative bringing online education, social networking and open source authoring opportunities to USGBC’s diverse audiences.

Specific Responsibilities Include

  • Knowledge Exchange Launch and Management (50% of time): Work closely with Director, Educational Technology and cross-organizational teams to successfully build a phased launch of Knowledge Exchange e-platform. Specific activities will include: 1) Seed, organize, and maintain resource database; 2) Establish, monitor, and encourage social media conversations focused on green building knowledge formation; 3) Identify, organize, and monitor open source activities; generate reports to USGBC Executive Management that will shape a USGBC protocol for future open source development
  • Internal/External Relationship Coordination (25% of time): Work collaboratively, in particular work closely with Director, Educational Technology, on internal initiatives as they relate to successful launch of the Knowledge Exchange. Efforts to include, but not limited to, strengthened use of social media tools and establish platforms for open source contributions. Also, utilize social media platforms, conferences/events, and other electronic and in person opportunities to stay current on trends in green building marketplace, education, and research
  • Knowledge Center Coordination (15% of time): Track resource needs among staff and order new resources to fill gaps. Catalog and organize resources, keeping up to date logs of staff resource use. Promote use of Knowledge Center as a resource to staff by organizing educational events including Friday Movie Feature, Reading Groups, and other opportunities
  • Web Updates and Analytics (5% of time): Update appropriate USGBC EDU web pages as needed. Perform monthly analysis of web site usages utilizing tools such as Google Analytics and other similar programs. Prepare reports to develop better understanding of user experience across department and organization
  • Online Education (5% of time): Collaborate with USGBC Education Media Resources, Education Development, and Publication teams to build out multimedia education resources and experiences. Products may include, but are not limited to: audio/video podcasts, USGBC iTunes University station coordination, webinars, webcasts, online courses, and electronic publications

Education and Training Requirements/Preferences

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s Degree in Library Science, Information Science, or related field preferred
  • Must demonstrate foundational understanding of green building concepts, priority given to candidates holding LEED Green Associate credential

Experience Requirements

  • Background and understanding of issues with the built environment
  • Experience working with Web 2.0, mobile apps, online learning platforms
  • Basic understanding of and experience working with HTML
  • Experience in data organization
  • Experience working in solo/special libraries

  • Demonstrated skills at integrating new technologies into projects
  • Demonstrated experience implementing new and innovative projects
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong customer service abilities
  • Highly organized and detailed-oriented
