We rebuild tropical fisheries with coastal communities

Blue Ventures develops locally led approaches to marine management that benefit people and nature alike. By listening and responding to basic needs, we design our models to catalyse and sustain marine conservation, unlocking the potential of coastal communities to manage their resources. We work in places where the ocean is vital to local cultures and economies, and are committed to advancing the rights of small-scale fishers throughout the coastal tropics.

Summary job description

We are currently recruiting a Knowledge Development Coordinator to support the development and delivery of technical outputs documenting learning across Blue Ventures’ work. A skilled early to mid-career science communicator, and effective project manager, is needed to provide expertise and support for the creation and management of a range of products, from peer-reviewed papers to toolkits and training videos.

This post will play a pivotal role in strengthening our knowledge development function, drawing on evidence and learning generated by our network of partner communities, field teams and partner organisations. Using scientific writing skills, as well as strong project management skills and a collaborative approach, the role will support field practitioners, colleagues and partners  in documenting learning. The position will work closely with our digital and communications team to ensure outputs are shared to target audiences.

The candidate

The successful candidate will be a motivated, proactive and highly organised individual. You will thrive in environments that are collegiate and inspiring, and be able to demonstrate experience of working independently and solving complex problems in challenging situations.

You will demonstrate experience in diverse forms of writing and content production, from toolkits and training resources to project reporting and technical publications. You will be a science communicator with a desire to support and nurture the professional development of colleagues. You’ll be able to engage a range of different audiences with your writing, and be comfortable taking a project from conception to a variety of published outputs depending on the context.

You will be a proactive team player and natural coordinator, with a passion for making conservation science accessible, alongside exceptional written and digital skills. You will be comfortable producing different forms of written outputs, from experiential narratives to practical toolkits and scientific publications. You’ll be as comfortable working on solo projects as steering projects with multiple contributors, with experience in shepherding a process of collaborative working across busy teams, ensuring that outputs are completed.

Blue Ventures is a fast growing and mission-driven social enterprise, offering excellent opportunities for further professional development.
