The Kankakee Sands Land Steward participates in preserve operations, maintenance and management. This may include one or more of the following functions:
• Maintains preserve areas frequented by the visiting public
• Helps local residents visit preserves
• Removes exotic species (including cutting & chemically treating)
• Helps plant native trees, grasses and flowers
• Maintains tools and equipment
• Protects fragile areas
• Mows firebreaks
• Removes trash
• Erects signs
• Helps the Conservancy create a list and map of local place names.
• Helps the Conservancy create a list of the local uses for native plants
• Helps the Conservancy understand community priorities
• Helps the Conservancy implement other projects as needed
