The Kane‘ohe Field Technician (Field Tech) participates in field operations, maintenance, and management of the Kane‘ohe Bay Reef Restoration Project. This may include one or more of the following:
- Removing aquatic invasive species.
- Transplanting native sea urchins.
- Conducting coral reef and native and non-native species monitoring.
- Disposing of invasive algae after it is cleared from the reef.
- Maintaining vessels, tools, and equipment as required for aquatic invasive algae removal.
- Maintaining proper records of maintenance and other daily activities.
- Conducting field trips and communicating effectively about the project with visitors.
- Organizing volunteer workdays and communicating effectively about the project with volunteers.
- Giving presentations to groups about the project.
- Working and communicating effectively with TNC staff at all levels, community members, government agencies, and other partners.
Three Field Tech positions are currently open and funded for three years.
