Are you committed to an ecologically sustainable future? Biohabitats seeks a
Junior Water Resources Specialist to join our Chesapeake Bioregion team (located
in Baltimore, MD). Applicants must not only be hardworking, motivated, and
technically skilled, but also passionate about the environment and sincerely
interested in integrating ecology and design. Work will consist of public, private,
and institutional projects throughout North America, with a focus on the Mid-
Atlantic region. Projects, which will vary in type and scale, may include watershed
assessment, stormwater management design, and the development of integrated
ecological restoration and engineering design.
Primary Responsibilities
»
Conducting natural resources and watershed inventories and assessments
»
Stream, wetland, and shoreline restoration design
»
Developing stormwater management retrofit design plans
»
Low Impact Development (LID) and Environmental Site Design (ESD)
assessment and design
»
Creating site specific conceptual design through construction documents
»
Applying an ecological mindset to the resolution of challenges posed
by the built environment
»
Preparing specifications and cost estimates
»
Construction bid support
Position Requirements
»
BS or MS in water resources/civil/biosystems engineering, environmental sciences
or natural resources, geomorphology, planning, or landscape architecture
»
Unwavering environmental ethic
»
Strong written and oral communication skills
»
Experience with AutoCAD and GIS
»
Natural resources assessment and/or plant identification are a plus
»
Stream assessment and survey skills are a plus
»
LID and ESD experience is a plus
»
Stream restoration experience is a plus
»
Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling skills a plus
