Change Agents UK is pleased to be working with Opportunity Peterborough and University Centre Peterborough to deliver the Peterborough Graduate Scheme, which forms part of the Peterborough DNA programme. This is one of 12 roles on the Peterborough Graduate Scheme (PGS).

Background

Webroster is a forward thinking, dynamic and progressive company, providing a bespoke online software service to help companies and organisations, both private and public, manage their workforce more efficiently and productively. Passion, dedication, knowledge and expertise are de facto traits across the company, such as in sales, marketing and software development. The opportunity to take part in this experience and to contribute with highly skilled and friendly individuals who are willing to “part with knowledge” makes this a unique opportunity to gain invaluable commercial experience.

Peterborough graduates are destined to help shape the future, and our opportunity honours a commitment to sustainable development by creating efficiencies through our care management system.

Objective

To enable the localisation of our community care management system so that it is more usable by more people. This will be achieved by enabling the system to be tailored to the user’s terminologies and localised labelling, currency, numerical, date & time settings. Typical users that would benefit from this are carers, service users and care managers. Through the localisation of the community care management system the Junior Software Developer will play an active role in developing and promoting sustainable efficiencies in how users conduct their business; from reducing their carbon footprint to reducing their waste output. The use of this newly developed localisation software and an increased number of users will determine the success of this project.

Benefits of this opportunity

The opportunity resides predominantly in software development but will take the graduate on a journey into Webroster’s cloud computing, from physical hardware, vertical and horizontal scalability, the role of databases and the decisions that form their design. The journey can touch marketing; looking at brand awareness, customer engagement and feedback; seeing how this and sales form together to create our product requirement. Using this information developers wield their tools, which will demonstrate css, javascript, c++, ruby and a polyglot techniques and ideas.

It goes without saying that the skills and learning opportunity can be wide and varied, although tailored to the graduate within the timeframe offered by the scheme.
