Our client a leading research institute working within the Forestry sector is looking to fill the position of Junior Research Scientist for the area of Pietermaritzburg. The position will report to the Senior Researcher and is an entry level position with the objective that the incumbent grow into an independent and competent research scientist. The post will concentrate on applied research into factors affecting flowering and seed production in both Eucalyptus and Acacia species Requirements:· BSc Agric (Hort) or an equivalent Honours Degree (Botany, Physiology, Reproductive Biology)· Experience working within the forestry industry will be advantageous· Valid code EB Drivers Licence· Computer Literacy including MS Office and recognised statistical packages· Great organisational skills· Intensive measurement and data analysis skills· Project management skills· Report writing skills· Great attention to detail· Good communication skills· Ability to work as part of a team Roles and Responsibilities:· Planning and execution of field-based activities to generate knowledge · Planning and implementation of related research activities· Data capturing in electronic format, preparation of data for analysis and statistical analysis of data If you feel that you fit the above mentioned requirements and that you can fulfil the role then please forward a comprehensive CV, written proof written communication and a cover letter to Candice at candicew@caenviro.co.za Foreign candidates looking to apply must possess a valid South African Work Permit and must submit proof thereof
