The Forest Conservation Programme (FCP) is a global thematic programme of the IUCN Secretariat and supports the forest-related activities of the Union. The FCP consists of a global secretariat based at the IUCN Headquarters and out-posted staff in North America. The FCP also directly links to, and supports coordination between a worldwide network of over 50 regional and country-level forest officers, enabling it to add value to the work of IUCN members through both field-based and policy-orientated interventions. FCP’s work is centred on three mutually supporting themes of Forest Landscape Restoration, Locally Controlled Forests and Primary Forests. One aspect of FCP’s portfolio focuses on private sector engagement, including smallholders, agri-businesses and farmers, to motivate and implement locally controlled forest landscape restoration around the world. Under this umbrella, FCP supports forest and farm producers organizations with capacity building and international policy engagement. In addition, FCP is piloting tools to assess and implement restoration interventions in international agribusinesses supply chains while building a bigger momentum for private investment in restoration. The Young Professional will mainly support this growing portfolio but might be engaged in other topics depending on the evolution of the work.
