General responsibilities

 
  • Supporting and managing, as and when assigned, environment-related projects and activities carried out by REC Office Kosovo (as defined by UNSCR 1244) in a timely and cost-efficient manner, with a particular focus on the Local Governance and Participatory Governance topic areas.
  • Providing support to the development of new REC projects, with a particular focus on the Local Governance and Participatory Governance topic areas.
  • Providing support to the fundraising activities of the office.
  • Providing support to other in-house projects and their assigned staff.
  • Handling day-to-day relations with clients, donors, beneficiaries and outside partners in Kosovo (as defined by UNSCR 1244) as and when instructed by the immediate supervisor.

Experience required

 
  • Basic knowledge of, and interest in, environmental issues.
  • A minimum of two years’ project management experience, including narrative and financial reporting, in the areas of local planning for sustainability, environmental policy or civil society support. (Experience in water management, biodiversity or capacity building/education is an asset.)
  • A minimum of one year’s experience in international community projects in South Eastern Europe. (Specific experience with capacity-building projects is an asset.)
  • Experience of working in a multicultural environment.
  • Solid administrative skills.
  • Developed interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in local official languages (Albanian and Serbian).
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work with flexibility and to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to travel frequently in Kosovo (as defined by UNSCR 1244) and abroad (mainly South Eastern Europe).
  • Computer literacy.
  • Familiarity with the REC and its procedures and availability to start employment at an early date are strong assets.

Education required

 
  • College or university degree (higher university degree or equivalent is an asset) in a relevant field, preferably environmental management, bio-environmental sciences, economics or socio-political sciences.

This full-time position is based at the REC office in Pristina. The position is for a fixed period, with a possibility of extension.
