General responsibilities

The junior expert will contribute to REC Turkey’s activities in relation to project development, implementation and evaluation, in close cooperation with project expert(s), including activities connected to the EU environmental acquis, sustainable development, climate change, and other areas managed within the REC Turkey portfolio.

Specific responsibilities

  • Supporting activities related to capacity building, information and publications, and project management and implementation.
  • Contributing to all administrative and reporting tasks related to country office project reports, annual reports and strategic plans.
  • Supporting appropriate fundraising and business development activities for new projects under the supervision of the country office director and experts.
  • Assisting in the preparation of local environmental assessment studies and research conducted by REC Turkey.
  • Keeping regular contacts with stakeholders and donors in the country.
  • Ensuring the appropriate dissemination of information about REC activities, programmes and services.
  • Preparing, copying, filing and distributing correspondence, data and reports.
  • Entering data into the information management systems of the REC and REC Turkey.
  • Making conference and travel arrangements as directed.
  • Following REC internal policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining data confidentiality.
  • Carrying out other tasks as and when requested by the immediate supervisor.

Experience required

 

 

  • A minimum of two years’ work experience in one of the areas of the EU environmental acquis, sustainable development or climate change.
  • Familiarity with project management and an understanding of project management cycles and project administration.
  • Fundraising experience is a strong asset.
  • Strong office management and administrative skills, including sound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent command of Turkish and English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work flexibly and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Excellent organisational and technical skills, including narrative and financial reporting.
  • Experience of working in a multicultural environment.

Education required

 

 

  • A university degree in a relevant field (a higher university degree or equivalent is an asset), preferably in environmental sciences, environmental management, economics, administrative and social sciences, environmental engineering or similar).
