POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Iowa State Project Coordinator
The National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT) is seeking an Iowa State Project Coordinator to facilitate our National Energy Corps AmeriCorps project. This is a regular, entry-level position providing an excellent opportunity to work with a dedicated and professional staff on local and state projects while developing skills working on a national grant. The position may be part time or full time dependent on the skills of the applicant. The position will be based at NCAT’s regional office located in Des Moines, IA. NCAT is a private non-profit organization that works to foster and promote sustainable technologies and systems, especially for the benefit of economically disadvantaged individuals and communities.
QUALIFICATIONS: This is an excellent opportunity for the ideal candidate with a combination of education and/or experience in energy, agriculture, business management or development, project management and coordination, personnel management or community service. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in working with project staff to facilitate NCAT’s Iowa Energy Corps AmeriCorps project. Experience and/or interest in local foods, sustainable agriculture, sustainable energy and energy efficiency are desirable. Excellent communication skills and the ability to learn quickly are very important in this position. A high level of computer literacy is required including use of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Training in personnel management, project coordination and community service would be beneficial. Previous AmeriCorps or VISTA experience is useful. Travel is required. A college degree is preferred but not required with the right value-added work experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop community partnerships and facilitate community outreach
- Assist with Energy Corps member recruitment, management and support
- Coordinate and monitor Energy Corps member activities
- Facilitate member trainings
- Perform partner site visits
- Collaborate with project staff to conduct project assessment
SALARY AND BENEFITS: $28,000 - $34,000, full time, annual salary, depending on qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits include paid vacation and holidays, health, life and disability insurance, a cafeteria and 401(k) plan and a pleasant, professional office environment.
