Exciting opportunity to intern with Greenpeace - your research skills can help our work for a green and peaceful future. Paid internship - 28 hours per week for 12 weeks.

For over forty years, Greenpeace has been at the forefront of the world’s most pressing environmental issues. These issues are global in nature and so are their solutions. With offices in over forty countries, we work with communities across the world to achieve large-scale change. Greenpeace Australia Pacific has a mandate to defend the rich, diverse and fragile environments in the Australia Pacific region. We investigate and expose environmental abuse, hold decision makers accountable, promote effective solutions and inspire others to create positive change.

In order to advance Greenpeace in its mission to achieve a green and peaceful world, we are looking for an Investigations and Research Intern to further Greenpeace’s objectives through participation in high-quality research and investigations. The Greenpeace Investigations and Research team is responsible for strategic and tactical research to support Greenpeace campaigns and activities. The team collects and analyses data for reports, interprets scientific information, analyses regulations and policies, and through investigations serves as an industry and government watchdog.

The Investigations and Research Intern will participate in strategic research and investigation projects. They will provide assistance to the research team by adopting a wide range of approaches: from sifting Freedom of Information releases, corporate data and government reports, to analysing scientific data and possible fieldwork.

Selection Criteria:
•    Study or bachelor’s degree in environmental science, legal or related discipline. Graduate study is preferred, but not required.
•    Experience in scientific, policy or markets research desired.
•    Capacity for innovative, lateral thinking essential.
•    Demonstrated interest in environmental advocacy and non-violent direct action.

It is an exciting opportunity for those with high level skills in scientific, legal or other investigative research, as well as a passion for the environment, to play a vital role in achieving positive change in the Australia Pacific region, as well as being a part of the global movement.

This is a part-time (28 hours per week), Sydney-based internship which will operate over 4 days/week over the course of a 12-week period.

Applications close 1700hrs Friday 12 Sep 2014.  Please read the job description and send a CV and cover letter explaining why you want to intern for Greenpeace to:
