Internship at the UNEP/CMS Office in Abu Dhabi

The UNEP/CMS Office - Abu Dhabi is seeking an intern for 3–6 months duration, to assist
with  tasks  related to the Secretariat to the Memorandum of Understanding on the
Conservation and Management of Dugongs and their Habitats throughout their Range, as
well as  to  the Interim Coordinating Unit for the Memorandum of Understanding on the
Conservation of Migratory Birds of Prey in Africa and Eurasia.  The internship will be
implemented under the general terms and conditions of the UNEP/CMS Family Internship
(see  http://www.cms.int/secretariat/internships.htm > Conditions) and the specific
conditions below of UNEP/CMS Office in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Applicants must be enrolled in a degree programme in a graduate school (second university
degree or higher) at the time of application and during the internship. Candidates who have
completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution may
be also be eligible to apply. The fields of study related to the work of the UNEP/CMS Office
in Abu Dhabi include e.g. biology, environmental and political sciences, international
relations, public relations, law, business administration, economics, information technology
or journalism.

For this internship, the tasks planned involve website content development, arranging and
maintaining mailing lists, working on specialised publications, outreach activities, arranging
office archives, assisting in logistics/administrational tasks related to organising workshops
and/or meetings,  assisting staff as needed,  and any  other items of interest to UNEP/CMS
Office - Abu Dhabi. In addition, it is vital that the intern has excellent English skills, good
basic  computer skills (MS Office), and can produce written communications competently.
The working language is English; Arabic and/or French would be an asset.  

Apart from contributing to the work of the UNEP/CMS Office - Abu Dhabi, the intern position
offers a good opportunity for young people to become acquainted with the work of the
United Nations, and to experience a multi-cultural environment. All expenses related to the
internship, which is not remunerated, must be borne by the individual or by a sponsoring
Government or institution. Proof of enrolment in a health insurance plan must be provided in
advance. Please note the UNEP/CMS Office cannot provide visas – it will be the responsibility
of the successful candidate to obtain a visa.
