A student internship is available in the National Renewable Energy Laboratory's (NREL) Electricity, Resources, & Building Systems Integration Center. NREL is the nation's primary laboratory for research, development and employment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. 
We have an immediate opening for a one- year part-time student internship in our Golden, Colorado office. The position would be part-time (15 - 30 hours per week) during the school year and/or full time during the summer.
Development of electrical metering equipment and the associated data collection network. Design of software and hardware for advanced power metering in order to support ongoing research projects. Experience with PMU and or Power Quality equipment, data collection and analysis. Database and network communications management for the associated measurement system. Development of a variety of data analysis and interface tools to support the collected data. Setting up real-time visualizations of the incoming data in variety of displays.
Must be enrolled as a full-time student. 

Graduate students enrolled in a minimum of nine credit hours. 

Undergraduate students enrolled in a minimum of twelve credit hours. 

Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
Seeking a masters in either Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science. Experience running electrical simulations, matlab/simulink programming, hands on experience with oscilloscopes,voltmeters and various electronic instrumentation. Experience with a variety of programming languages including C++, C#, Python, web scripting. Experience with Databases and their management. Hardware and circuit board development including FPGA programming preferred.
