ABC is known for its ability to achieve conservation results for birds, including continually advancing solutions to address the most significant human-caused sources of bird mortality and population declines. In ABC's 20-plus year history, we have established a network of close to 70 nature reserves protecting nearly one million acres of habitat for the rarest birds. Our partners have planted more than three million trees to restore bird habitat on degraded land. In addition, our work has reduced threats to birds from the most dangerous pesticides, invasive species, collisions, and more, thereby preventing the deaths of millions of individual birds.

ABC seeks to hire an International Programs Manager (IPM) to join our International Program working to prevent extinctions of the rarest birds in the Americas.  The IPM will be responsible for ensuring timely production, translation, and execution of partner subgrant agreements and reporting templates, tracking results across the division, administering personnel actions such as staff training, timesheet and travel approval, and liaising with the Communications team to update website and produce social media and press releases.

Primary Duties:

The International Program Manager will work with ABC's International team to protect habitat and reduce threats for the rarest birds of the Americas by assisting the Vice President of International Programs with the administration of the international programs. Duties include:

  1. Lead in the maintenance of various tracking tools, including the Protected Lands and Reforestation Databases.  Provide regular reports to the Vice President of International and ABC Management Team.
  2. Work with team members to assist with partner agreements, produce partner-reporting templates, and ensure on-time partner reporting.
  3. Serve as the main administrative contact for various grant programs managed by ABC, such as our Latin American Reserve Stewardship Initiative.
  4. Organize and provide new staff training for International Team.
  5. Review team travel and timesheets.
  6. Work with the Communications Team to disseminate the results of ABC's international work.
  7. Translate documents to Spanish.
  8. Other duties as requested by the Vice President of International.

In addition to working with other members of ABC's International team, the International Program Manager will also work closely with ABC's administration, development, and communications teams to track projects internally, fundraise, and share the results of our work with broader audiences.

Position Requirements:

ABC seeks to fill this position with someone with the following skills, attributes, and qualifications:

  • Passion for ABC's mission to conserve birds and their habitats. Applicant should desire a career in conservation.
  • Bachelor's degree required. At least three years of program management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish required. Proficiency in Portuguese desired.
  • Well-organized with keen attention to detail and results-oriented. Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and the tenacity, tact, and creativity to solve difficult problems.
  • Proficiency with computers and software such as Microsoft Access, Excel and Word. Research and writing experience is also helpful.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of people at all levels.
  • Good communication skills in person and in writing.
  • An outgoing, positive, persuasive manner and predisposition for collaboration, with ability and comfort to work both independently and as part of teams.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive material.
