International Policy Analyst

The Center for Clean Air Policy (CCAP) is seeking an International Policy Analyst to support its flagship program, the Mitigation Action Implementation Program (MAIN) in the Latin American region. The position entails conducting research on mitigation projects and policy developments in various countries and producing cutting-edge policy analysis in the form of case studies and policy reports. The international policy analyst will also be expected to support CCAP’s Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMA) development work in partner countries in sectors such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, transport and waste management. Further responsibilities include preparing presentations and other outreach materials based on the analytical reports produced at CCAP. Occasionally, the international policy analyst will be asked to pitch-in with fundraising and relationship building efforts. The international policy analyst will report to senior policy staff and/or a project manager.

Expected salary range is $55,000 – 68,000 per annum depending on individual’s qualifications and relevance of work experience. International applicants encouraged to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

•         Conduct research and analysis on climate and energy policies, carbon markets, sustainable transportation policies, and low-emissions development in developing country

•         Prepare high-quality deliverables such as quantitative analyses, case studies, policy reports, memos, etc. with guidance or supervision from senior policy staff/project managers

•         Proactively liaise with outside technical consultants, experts, and international policymakers on various assignments

•         Prepare presentations/conference materials for upcoming conferences and help with general preparation for these events 

QUALIFICATIONS 

The successful candidate for this position will be an articulate professional with experience in climate and energy policy, carbon markets, and/or sustainable development. The candidate will ideally hold a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and a Master’s degree in public or environmental policy. The candidate will ideally have demonstrable professional experience of 2 – 4 years in conducting economic analyses of public policies and projects in sectors including renewable energy, energy efficiency, transport and waste management. Prior academic and/or professional focus in Latin America is a plus. Additionally, ideal applicants will possess many of the following professional and personal abilities, attributes and experiences:

•         Ability to conduct research on complicated policy issues in relevant areas, especially in circumstances where information availability is limited

•         Superior quantitative skills, oral and written communication skills in English with the ability to write for both policy and analytic audiences

•         Experience in organizing and presenting at high-level conferences or events

•         Advanced organizational skills, attention to detail, and timeliness with deliverables

•         Demonstrable ability to multi-task and work in highly collaborative environments

•         Fluency in Spanish
