ABOUT THE ROLE The Climate Group is seeking a highly motivated International Head of Editorial. Reporting to the Global Director of Communications, the role presents a fantastic opportunity to work on international publications in a successful NGO. The role will include but not be limited to: • Review and management of current international reports • Review and implementation of an international publications strategy, including an audit of publications currently in plan, process set up and management • Editorial support for the web team • Ensuring written communication is appropriately branded and communicated • Prepare, rewrite and edit copy to improve readability. • Read copy or proof to detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation, and syntax. • Allocate print space for story text, photos, and illustrations according to space parameters and copy significance, using knowledge of layout principles. • Plan the contents of publications according to the publication's style, editorial policy, and publishing requirements. • Verify facts, dates, and statistics, using standard reference sources. • Oversee publication production, including artwork, layout, computer typesetting, and printing, ensuring adherence to deadlines and budget requirements. • Read, evaluate and edit manuscripts or other materials submitted for publication and confer with authors regarding changes in content, style or organization, or publication. • Arrange for copyright permissions. ABOUT YOU You will have at least 3 years experience working at a senior level in an editorial position. You will be team oriented, flexible and personable, comfortable working with all members of the international organisation. With excellent written and verbal communication skills, you are highly motivated, a self-starter with experience of using your own initiative and managing multiple projects. A sound knowledge of all Microsoft packages is required, along with proven written and editorial skills. A relevant qualification is desirable but not essential. Experience in an international environment will be a particular asset for the role.
