Description
The Indonesian-German Forest and Climate Change Programme aims to put public and private actors in the position to implement improved institutional and normative framework conditions, methods and services for sustainable forest management, nature conservation and the reduction of GHG from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD).The programme has three components
  1. Policy advice, strategy development and institutional support at national level
  2. Implementation of strategic plans for sustainable forest management
  3. Promotion of nature conservation and sustainable development in high biodiversity areas in the Heart of Borneo 

A close cooperation with WWF Indonesia is envisaged.

RESPONSIBILITIES

·          Overall management of the programme component “Promotion of nature conservation and sustainable development in high biodiversity areas in the Heart of Borneo”·          Team leadership·          Capacity building and training in forest conservation, protected area management, buffer zone development and income-generating activities·          Institutional support to the protected area management and district forest authorities·          Support to forest sector reform and implementation of strategic plans via Forest Management Units (FMUs)·          Mainstreaming of biodiversity conservation issues into spatial plans·          Fostering close cooperation with NGOs·          Close coordination with the other two programme components, and other programmes and projects in the sector·          Knowledge management, dissemination and networking·          Raising environmental awareness
