Description

WWF believes in a future where people and nature thrive. Best known as the world’s leading conservation body, we’re committed to safeguarding the natural world through tackling the global threats of climate change and environmental degradation. We understand that if we are to have a sustainable ‘One Planet’ future must tackle the twin challenges of poverty and environmental degradation.

WWF believes that humanity is facing a period of great change. With that change comes both challenges and opportunity. We live in an increasingly interdependent global economy and urgently need to find new ways to live that are both fair and sustainable.

To help with this work we are recruiting a fixed term post (one year maternity cover) to deliver our exciting 'One Planet Development' strategy.

Our International Development Policy Advisor will work to hold international development institutions, in particular DFID, to account in terms of their environmental and social impacts. Strong components of this role include understanding and reacting to the emerging debate on green economy and climate resilient development, engaging with the Beyond 2015 agenda and contributing to WWF-UK’s preparations for Rio+20. The person we are looking for will have experience of both the environment and social development agendas and will be an experienced networker, committed to working in coalitions and willing to challenge established agendas and viewpoints. They will be able to convince policy makers of the vital role that ecosystem services play in poverty reduction, and be able to convince conservationists that tackling poverty is essential to a sustainable future.
