The full project aims to promote an integrated approach to management of forests in Turkey, demonstrating multiple environmental benefits in high conservation value forests in the Mediterranean forest region.
The objective of this Project Preparation Grant (PPG) is to develop a full project document for a UNDP/GEF project in line with Programmatic approaches or major multi-focal area projects that combine resources and objectives in more that one of GEF‘s focal areas of biodiversity, climate change, and land degradation, aiming for a transformative impact in sustainable forest management.

The REDD+ Specialist will be available for approx. 60 days for the whole contract period. The REDD+ Specialist is the key expert with direct responsibility to submit the deliverables below:
Carbon stock and flux methodology and estimates report
MRV framework
NAMA framework
Tracking tool 2: CCM
He/she will have indirect responsibility to attend meetings and workshops, including inception and validation workshops and periodic team meetings, feasibility analysis and budget related activities and to submit the deliverables below, in collaboration with NC2, NC3 and NC4:

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
Advanced university degree (M.A. or Ph.D.) in natural resources, forestry, agronomy, environmental sciences or equivalent.
Good knowledge of the related UN Framework Conventions (UNFCCC, UNCCD and CBD).
Experience:
Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: nature conservation, sustainable forest management (SFM), forest monitoring (remote sensing, forest inventory), FLEGT, reduced impact logging (RIL) and general land use planning.
At least 5 years practical experience in carbon forestry and other land use projects in developing and/or transition countries
Demonstrated up-to-date knowledge on REDD, international forest issues, implementation of carbon forestry projects, validation, verification and certification of LULUCF projects.
