The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) has an immediate opening for an internship position in the San Francisco, CA. This position will involve working with various ‘emission factor’ models (e.g. Emfac, Moves, Copert, the International Vehicle Emission Model, etc.) and developing a database of vehicle emission rates for light- and heavy-duty vehicles as well as motorcycles. The work outputs of this position will be immediately applicable to ongoing modeling work that will support policy development in domestic and international forums.

Tasks will include:

  • Performing model runs to develop mass-per-distance (e.g. grams per mile) emission rates for various vehicles, criteria pollutants, and greenhouse gases
  • Developing a spreadsheet database for emission factors (EFs) and refining a set of EFs that will be used for ICCT modeling projects
  • Writing a report to summarize the data sources and methodology for each of the models used

Qualifications

  • Excellent research, analytic, quantitative, and writing skills required
  • Willingness to learn and use various vehicle emissions models
  • Familiarity and interest in mobile sources emission control policy
  • Proficient Excel and Word use

Position details
The intern may choose to work full- or part-time, with a minimum of 10 hours/week, and the duration of the position will be adjusted accordingly. The internship will be paid; salary will be commensurate with experience. This internship is based in the downtown San Francisco office, near the Montgomery Bart station.
