The International Conservation Fund of Canada (www.ICFCanada.org) is seeking an Intern to assist with running our conservation programs in Latin America and elsewhere. This is largely an administrative position.

The internship will last three months, with a possibility of further employment. The job is located in Chester, Nova Scotia, a village of about 1200 on Nova Scotia's Atlantic coast, about 45 minutes from Halifax.

The position comes with a stipend of $2500/month.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    - Help develop and implement projects, especially in Latin America;
    - Communicate with partners who are carrying out our projects;
    - Assist in writing reports about projects for our website and publications;
    - Assist in applying for grants from foundations;
    - Possibly make a field trip to visit one or more projects;
    - Communicate with donors and potential donors.

    FIRM REQUIREMENTS:
    - Canadian citizenship or landed immigrant status
    - fluency in Spanish and English
    - good writing and administrative skills
    - some knowledge of and interest in biology/natural history and conservation, especially tropical biology
    - willingness to travel to third world countries and work in a range of cultural contexts
    - excellent interpersonal skills

    DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES:
    - experience in (or interest in) tropical biology
    - one or more university degrees
    - past work or life experience in Latin America
    - experience in or understanding of business & environmental economics
    - ability to make work-related oral presentations
    - experience in fundraising or preparation of grant proposals
    - logistical acumen and "street smarts"
    - sophisticated understanding of real world politics in government, corporations and organizations
