This internship aims to offer students undergoing graduate or post-graduate studies a meaningful work experience by supplementing their learning through a practical and on-the-job training approach. In doing so, the intern’s knowledge is supplemented through a practical learning experience while IUCN derives some level of advantage from the young professional’s services as well as the possibility of gaining new perspectives from the intern.
The learning opportunities and associated responsibilities of the intern will include:
• The interns will be assigned to technical officers and a short training on data extraction and compilation will be provided.
• Extract and collate data on existing Protected Areas published and unpublished reports including but not limited to gazette, technical papers, EIAs, site assessment reports, research papers and local monitoring reports.
• Using data collected, prepare profiles for existing Protected Areas and enter this information to the existing EPA database.
• Participate in meetings and contribute to team work and tasks within the project REGERERATE portfolio
GUIDANCE AND MENTORING:
• The candidate once selected, will be given an orientation of the Project REGENERATE portfolio specifically on Environmental Protection Agency, and whenever opportunity comes, on IUCN as an institution. • Based on interest of the candidate, the candidate will also be mentored about higher education avenues abroad and/or carrier planning in Protected Areas Field.
