Description

The communications and design intern will create and print web content for the Social Policy and Practice (SPP) Department at Conservation International.  This will include producing new material and updating existing materials such as fact sheets, newsletters, blogs, and webpages on SPP projects and iniatives. The intern will also contribute to the development of communications plans for specific projects related to climate change and local communities.  This is a part-time internship of 15-20 hours a week for three months with possibility to extend.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and/or update external and internal web pages on SPP projects/topics.
  • Produce fact sheets, newsletters and other communications materials about SPP's work for internal and external audiences.
  • Assist with developing communications plans for specific projects.
  • Create PowerPoint presentations and templates.
  • Assist in making edits to and finalizing design and layout of documents designed by others.

Working Conditions

  • This position will take place in a normal office environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • BA or MA candidate in communications, journalism, graphic design or similar field of study.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility, time management skills, and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Adobe InDesign CS5 or newer.

Preferred

  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustator, and Microsoft Publisher preferred.
  • Web design experience preferred.
  • Interest in/familiarity with conservation, climate change, international development, and/or indigenous issues preferred.
