Klohn Crippen Berger’s Mining Environmental Group is seeking motivated individuals for environmental scientist positions in Perth.

Candidates for this position should possess a diversified technical environmental skill set, coupled with an understanding of environmental legislation for the minerals industry. The candidate should also possess the skill to provide support/lead the environmental component of an engineering design project, or a stand-alone environmental assessment. We work predominantly in the mining industry but are also developing a non-mining business resume based around the oil and gas sector. Our current project portfolio includes projects in Australia, Papua New Guinea and the Philippines.

The position will require the candidate(s) to be able to operate with a degree of autonomy, although most technical assessments will be undertaken as part of a core group of environmental, engineering and geoscience professionals. Field work is a requirement of the position.

The ideal candidate(s) should have the following attributes:

  • Registered or eligible for registration with Environmental Institute Australia
  • Graduate degree or MSc in environmental science / or alternate core scientific training
  • 5 – 15 years experience in mining operations or mining environmental consulting
  • Experience in mining-related EIA / EIS / permitting and approvals projects
  • Sound knowledge of mining environmental requirements; applicable federal and state environmental legislation; environmental permitting; and, environmental plan development
  • Demonstrable administration and project management skills, and comprehension and application of strong business ethics and health, safety and environmental principles
  • Strong interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills in English, and the ability to work within a team of professionals
  • Travel is a requirement of the position, domestic and international
