The Rainforest Alliance’s Intuitional Giving (IG) team raises funds from private foundations, corporations, government and multilateral agencies to support the conservation programs of the organization. The IG team seeks a motivated intern who is interested in the fundraising process of an international NGO.

Responsibilities

The intern will assist the Rainforest Alliance with foundation, corporate, and government research, outreach and administrative tasks. Qualified and motivated candidates will have the opportunity to learn several aspects of the proposal development process. Responsibilities to include:

  • Researching potential government, multilateral, foundation, and corporate donors;
  • Assisting in the maintenance of donor files and databases;
  • Drafting acknowledgment, meeting request, and follow-up letters to donors;
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Ideal for undergraduate or graduate students in good academic standing. Self-starter, resourceful and detail-oriented individual with great communications skills needed. Sound research skills, adeptness with the Internet and Microsoft office, and ability to interact professionally with donor prospects via the phone and e-mail required. Spanish skills strongly desired. Interest in the environment or sustainable development preferred. Minimum commitment of 20 hours a week required. Full-time availability is preferred.

Compensation:

This is an unpaid internship. However, course credit is available for undergraduate and graduate students.
