As an Installations Officer, you'll have the chance to make a real difference in protecting our environment and people. You will be responsible for regulating process industry sectors such as Incineration, Combustion, chemicals, Waste and Food and Drink - it's your opportunity to influence change and ensure best practice! You will undertake a range of site-based inspections and audits together with assessment of emissions and other monitoring data to check compliance against permit conditions and other environmental legislation.

As part of the Installations team, you will be shaping and improving environmental conditions throughout Hertfordshire and North London. We face unique environmental problems every day, as well as liaise with industry leaders and local communities. Join us to make a real difference today.

Our Welwyn Garden City base location has a hybrid model allowing individuals to work either at home or at our office (a minimum number of days in the office per week will be agreed with your line manager and will be dependent on business needs and reviewed periodically).

What do you need

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Significant regulatory and/or industrial experience from one or more process industries and/or significant experience in a technical, scientific, medical or civil engineering (e.g. landfill, civil or chemical) background/workplace.
  • The ability to interpret legislation or required technical standards and know how to comply with them.
  • A willingness to lead on a specific sector and guide your colleagues on what needs to be delivered.
  • Great influencing and communication skills.
  • An ability to manage multiple demands on time, work independently and take responsibility for sites and companies you will account manage for permit compliance.
  • The ability to write reports, interpret data, and make risk-based decisions.
  • The capacity to take initiative and use a continuous improvement approach would be welcomed.
  • Computer literacy is essential, as is a full UK driving licence.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body is beneficial.
