Based in New York City, with offices throughout the United States and worldwide, the Rainforest Alliance works with people whose livelihoods depend on the land, helping them transform the way they grow food, harvest wood and host travelers.

Position Summary:

The Information Systems Manager is a hands-on manager role which will provide business analysis and Salesforce management expertise. S/he will lead Salesforce design, development and implementation efforts and administrate activities to support our unique Salesforce organizational initiatives. S/he will have the ability to think creatively and deliver innovative & sustainable solutions. In addition, this role will provide overall application & system management direction to help ensure the technology solutions employed by the Rainforest Alliance function optimally and are conducted in a coordinated and harmonized fashion with other organizational IT efforts. S/he will play a critical role in research, recommendation, selection and consolidation of future cloud providers and be instrumental in successfully migrating current premise based solutions to cloud based environments. S/he will have software development best practices knowledge and perform technical tasks on new projects and initiatives as directed by the Director, Global IT and may be assigned to directly manage projects as well. This position will directly manage and oversee staff.

 

Responsibilities:

Salesforce.com

  • Oversee organizational Salesforce.com initiatives;
  • Function as Salesforce system administrator and trainer, develop limited coding, create custom objects and workflow processes as required; and
  • Ensure effective data integration between Salesforce and other Rainforest Alliance business systems.

Analysis

  • ·  Serve as first point of contact for assigned business stakeholders and quickly get up to speed with key business issues and priorities;
  • ·  Proactively communicate and collaborate with business stakeholders to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: (Business Requirements Document, Functional Specifications, Process Maps, Use Cases, Entity Relationship Diagrams, GUI, Screen and Interface designs, Test Scripts);
  • ·  Work with business contacts to facilitate, develop, and improve business processes, and help the business understand potential technology solutions;
  • ·  Serve as a liaison between business and consulting technical teams in order to translate user requirements into system specifications;
  • ·  Collaborate with consulting developers and provide detailed functional specifications to technical team;
  • ·  Simplify complex business problems through innovative process re-engineering;
  • ·  Assist in the preparation of project plans outlining expected tasks and activities;
  • ·  Participate in the review of detailed technical designs; and
  • ·  Create test scripts and conduct user acceptance testing.

Systems Management

  • Serve on steering committees that coordinate design and implementation of system solutions for all Rainforest Alliance divisions;
  • Support Rainforest Alliance divisions regarding data analysis and transfer; and
  • Provide guidance and support to staff serving in administrator roles for other Rainforest Alliance systems.

General Business System Support

  • Trouble-shoot and resolve technical issues related to data management;
  • Serve as the backup technical liaison to software vendors, implementers and consultants for all business technology solutions and related projects;
  • Work directly with users in support of reporting metrics across the organization; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering or related field required;
  • ·  7-10 years experience in a professional work environment;
  • Demonstrated 3-5 years Salesforce Administrator experience required;
  • Demonstrated staff management experience;
  • Demonstrated experience migrating applications/systems from premise to hosted environments;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices for application development;
  • Experience in business analysis in the CRM discipline and proficiency in using a CRM product is required;
  • Experience with data migration to and from Salesforce preferred;
  • Experience in providing hands-on IT customer support;
  • Excellent presentation skills;
  • Experience working with cross functional teams and global users to provide ongoing support;
  • Strong data management skills and best practices experience;
  • Strong computer skills (MS Visio, Excel and Access);
  • Project management experience with standardized project management methodologies;
  • Self starter with the ability to work independently or in a team environment;
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks across program groups;
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with user groups;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with technical personnel as well as with customers who have limited computer proficiency;
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus;
  • Nonprofit background a plus;
  • Ability and willingness to travel 15-20% of the time; and
  • Ability to work in a multicultural, diverse, and highly performance-driven environment.
