The Organic Research Centre is looking to appoint an Information Officer as Project/Content Manager for the development of practical information resources related to agroecology, sustainable and organic farming.

The responsibilities and time allocation for this post is split equally between two projects. For the Agricology project (www.agricology.co.uk; supported by the Daylesford Foundation) s/he will be responsible for co-ordinating the development of the website content and material to be uploaded, in close collaboration with the team and executive board. In the project OK-Net Arable (www.ok-net-arable.eu; EU H2020 thematic network) s/he will be responsible for co-ordinating the knowledge exchange between national/regional farmer innovation groups in European countries and the UK and ensure good and constructive communication with other project partners.  The post will report to the Senior Programme Manager.

The candidate will possess a BSc (2:1 or higher) in agriculture, biology or related subject and excellent organisation and communication skills (oral, written and interpersonal).  Experience with project/team management, website management/ development and ability to work with social media is vital as is breadth/depth of knowledge of sustainable farming in a research or technical context, as well as knowledge of the UK agricultural sector. A research communication and/or science/technical journalism background and producing publications for a range of target audiences, in particular farmers is advantageous.

The successful candidate will be based at the Organic Research Centre’s Elm Farm site near Newbury in Berkshire, but must be prepared to visit Daylesford Farm, Gloucestershire frequently and travel regularly in the UK and to other EU countries.
