Description |
Illegal Logging Lawyer (Implementation & Enforcement) – London or Brussels ABOUT THE ROLE The Illegal Logging Lawyer will play an important role in delivering ClientEarth’s work to address the drivers of deforestation. The focus of the role is to strengthen the implementation and enforcement of the EU Timber Regulation which seeks to prevent illegally logged timber from accessing the EU market. The role will also involve the identification of strategic opportunities to link work on the EU Timber Regulation to a broader regulatory context, both in the EU and internationally, in order to improve the application of EU law and reduce the EU’s forest footprint. The role will require the use of a mixed set of approaches including legal research and analysis, advocacy, and litigation. It will involve working independently and with partners, both in the EU and internationally. This role will be based in ClientEarth’s London or Brussels office. ABOUT YOU You have outstanding legal analytical and strategic skills and a strong practical experience of one or more of the following areas of law at EU and/or member state level: public and administrative, regulatory, financial, trade and investment. You will bring a creative approach to the law and use of legal practice and will be interested in working to influence the application, impact and development of law. You are adept at thoroughly analysing complex legal issues and developing practical solutions and are an excellent communicator, able to influence, convince and collaborate at a high level, and to build and support partnerships and networks. You are adaptable and resilient, able to work independently in diverse settings, and work collaboratively within a team. ABOUT US ClientEarth is a public interest environmental law group founded in 2007. ClientEarth brings together law, science and policy to create practical solutions to key environmental challenges. Working in partnership with civil society and policy-makers, ClientEarth is committed to securing the rights of citizens and civil society to participation, information and justice in environmental matters.
