£35,000 - £45,000 PLUS BENEFITS

SSE Renewables is responsible for the development and construction of the SSE portfolio of renewable energy projects, including onshore and offshore wind, hydro, marine, biomass, and solar. SSE is the leading generator of renewable energy in the UK and Ireland, with 3,750MW of renewable energy capacity (onshore wind, offshore wind, hydro and dedicated biomass) in operation, under construction or with consent in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

The Hydro Development department forms part of the wider SSE Renewables GB Onshore development team and is responsible for development and construction of Hydro and Pumped Storage schemes in the UK.  The team currently has a pipeline of schemes in development and consented schemes moving towards construction.

You will be involved in the identification and development of new Hydro Electric schemes and will join an established team of engineers currently managing a portfolio of projects from development through to construction.  You will be responsible for the identification of sites, scheme layout and option assessment.  Procurement and management of environmental and engineering services contracts will be also be an important element of the role.

Coordination of all aspects of Health and Safety including CDM during the development phase of a project will be critical to the success of your projects.  It is essential you have excellent communication skills as you will engage with the community on local issues and events.  Public liaison and consultation (working with SSE Corporate Communications) will be a focus of the role.

You must have experience of the Environmental Impact Assessment process and coordination and management of the planning application process.

A degree in an engineering or technical discipline would be advantageous.
