Earthjustice is growing and looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic HR Generalist  to join our team in San Francisco, California.        

This position works with the Vice President of Human Resources and HR Generalist with the development and implementation of human resources policies, programs, and procedures, with a major focus on recruitment. Other responsibilities include training and diversity arenas, compensation, performance management and other areas of HR.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES       
 
Recruitment
 

  • Working with the Vice President, HR, leads management of recruitment process, with emphasis on diversity
  • Maintain database of ads, recommend and place advertisements as necessary
  • Maintain and update Earthjustice job listings on the web
  • Assist hiring managers in review and selection of appropriate candidates for open positions.
  • Communicate with applicants regarding status of open positions.
  • Select, implement, and maintain applicant tracking system.
  • Provide applicant tracking system support and training to staff when implemented
  • Manage and participates in university and law school visits in conjunction with regional offices, including maintaining database of law school association information and contacts
  • Coordinate hiring of law clerks and interns 

Performance Management 

  • Maintain performance review database
  • Provide managers with monthly list of  performance reviews currently due
  •  Follow up with managers on overdue performance reviews 

Personnel Files       

  • In partnership with the HR Generalist, create and maintain updated personnel files in compliance with appropriate laws
  • Create and update personnel information electronically and in hard copy files 

Training 

  •  Work with the Vice President, HR in developing and presenting appropriate trainings for Earthjustice staff

HR - General

  •  Respond to general employee relations issues
  • Respond to inquiries regarding personnel policies and procedures
  • Maintain hard copy and electronic copy of all procedures
  • Communicate to the Vice President, HR any  potential exceptions/issues as they arise
  • Develop and update accurate new hire orientation information
  • for Earthjustice staff and assist Office Managers with performing new hire   orientation
  • Assist in position job classification status
  • Manage Worker’s Compensation Benefits program and claims. 

Other

  •  Work with Vice President, HR and other HR Generalist in planning and coordination of annual Office Manager Meeting
  •  Work with All-Staff Planning Meeting team with logistics
  • Provide administrative support as needed to Vice President, HR
  •  Participate in committees as appropriate
  •  Up to 25% travel required that will fluctuate throughout the year

                                                           
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
           

  • 5+ years experience in Human Resources
  • Experience in non-profit Human Resource department is a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Strong recruitment experience required, law firm experience a plus
  • Experience with diversity initiatives desired
  • Experience in performance management administration
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  •  Ability to work effectively with confidential information
  •  Project management experience a plus
  • Strong detail orientation and organizational skills a must
  • Experience with developing and giving group presentations
  • Working knowledge of employment laws, such as wage and hour, multiple types of leaves, benefits, insurance, ADA, and non-discrimination practices
  • Advanced skills in word processing, Power Point, spreadsheet and data base programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  •  Possess flexibility to work as a team and also independently with little supervision
  • Ability to handle a diverse workload and multi-task as needed
