Human Resources and Organisational Development Director, Islamic Relief        

Base Location: Birmingham       

Salary: £47,484 PA (Circa.)

Islamic Relief is an international aid and development charity, which aims to alleviate the suffering of the world's poorest people. It is an independent Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) founded in the UK in 1984 by Dr Hany El Banna. We are looking for a dynamic individual to lead our new Human Resources and Organisational Development team. Formed by the merger of a number of departments and units, you will lead and develop a team of specialists across Personnel, Learning and Development, Strategy, Policy, Evaluation and Audit.

The successful candidate will be focussing on:

     *  Championing the development of the organisation and Human resources

     *  Managing the organisation’s continuous learning and improvement processes through embedding learning  throughout  the organisation

     *  Developing the global strategy for the organisation and ensuring the deployment and pro-active monitoring of IR’s global strategy, policies and processes.

     *  Managing the delivery of effective monitoring, evaluation and audit processes and systems.

     *  Continuously updating and improving the workforce and organisational development strategies.

Having previous significant senior level experience in HR and organisational development in a UK context, you will manage efforts to develop the organisation’s strategic direction and ensure overall objectives are set and achieved. With your professional leadership, you will ensure the continued progression, policy development, culture and change management processes are in place and effectively implemented. You will have experience in developing and establishing strategies and work plans which help to deliver the wider organisational objectives. You should be able to guide staff development towards achieving key performance indicators and organisational strategy with a strong understanding of how to build, guide and motivate teams.

You will work as part of the senior management team to anticipate, support and evaluate the strategic direction and development needs of the organisation. You will also work externally with a wide range of stakeholders and partner organisations. This post holder is the person charged with promoting IRW's values and mission to staff. It is, therefore, essential that the post holder is able to demonstrate a good understanding of, and sympathy with, Islamic values and principles as well as commitment to IRW’s vision and mission.

A relevant degree with CIPD (or equivalent) professional qualifications is highly desirable. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential; a good command of a relevant second language will be an advantage.
