HR is part of the Corporate Services team which provides support across JNCC to managers and employees on a wide range of matters. We currently support approx. 270 employees based predominantly in Peterborough and Aberdeen. The majority of HR services are in-house except for payroll. 

This post reports to the HR Operations Manager and is a key member of a small HR Operations team, ensuring that an efficient and effective service is provided to the organisation. 

Job description

Post Duties 

•    Promote and ensure the delivery of first-class customer service through contact with both internal and external customers

•    Responsible for new starter processes, such as issuing contracts of employment conducting HR inductions and arrangement of the Corporate Induction. Support HR Admin Officers with any escalated queries about the recruitment process and right to work checks. 

•    Process actions relating to the full employee lifecycle including leavers, family leave, annual leave, contract variations, flexible working and overtime claims, conforming to best practice and HR processes

•    Inputting, amending information and reporting from the HR system, ensuring that data is accurate 

•    Processing payroll information, ensuring accuracy and compliance with JNCC pay rules and supporting with employee pay queries and rectification of any errors

•    Support with pension administration including responding to queries from employees and MyCSP (Pension Administrators)

•    Administration of the employee benefits schemes, including Cycle Scheme, childcare vouchers and online reward and benefit portal

•    Support with employee relations casework and answering policy-related queries as appropriate

•    Support the wider HR team with coordination and minuting of Trade Union meetings, audit support, development and project work and ad-hoc administration as required

•    Any other duties as may reasonably be required within the scope of this role

Technical skills

We'll assess you against these technical skills during the selection process:

  • A CIPD qualification (Level 3 minimum) or equivalent level of experience
  • Excellent IT skills including Excel and Word with experience of using HR systems for providing, updating and reporting on information.
  • Knowledge and experience of payroll processing/liaison with a third-party payroll provider.
  • Generalist HR experience across the full employee lifecycle working in a confidential environment
  • Experience of working within a busy team working under pressure to deadlines, with an organised approach to managing own work and conflicting demands.
  • Experience of working in a role requiring high attention to detail and accuracy.

Leave entitlement

JNCC annual leave allowance is 25 days per annum. After five years’ service, leave entitlement increases to 30 days per annum.
