Southern Solar Ltd is an expanding solar energy installation company. We provide a professional service with an emphasis on high quality relationships. Our main work is the installation of solar thermal and solar electric systems for domestic, public sector and commercial clients. Our primary workload at present is the installation of solar electric systems but we wish to develop our branches ability to install solar hot water systems (SHW).
Job Description
• Participate in the installation of domestic and commercial SHW systems with a team.
• Lead on the plumbing of SHW installations
• Work towards managing the install and design of solar hot water systems at the branch
• Develop knowledge in technical SHW system design.
• Assist with the maintenance of existing solar systems.
• Participate in the installation of domestic and commercial solar PV systems with a team. Your role will centre on installing the panels on the roof and running cables. This will form more than half your workload at present.
• Be responsible for waste disposal.
• Maintain good working relationships with co-workers, suppliers and all other stakeholders
• Look to minimize waste and excess expense in all areas of your work
The successful candidate will ideally have skills, experience and qualifications in the following areas:
EXPERIENCE
Essential
• Minimum three years plumbing experience in a commercial and domestic setting
• A proven track record in installing SHW systems
• A working knowledge of the SHW equipment market.
Desirable
• Experience of designing SHW system
• Experience of training others and working with clients at the hand over stage.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
• NVQ Level 2 or Equivalent Qualifications in Plumbing or higher
• Unvented Hot Water Certificate
• BPEC Solar Thermal Training or similar (Logic etc)
• 5 GCSE or equivalent, grade C or higher.
• CSCS Card
Desirable
• SHW design training
• Working at Heights training
• Asbestos awareness and abrasive wheel training
• 1st Aid qualification
CHARACTER
Essential
• Enthusiasm for renewable energies and the local community
• Proactive attitude to problem solving
• Strong team building skills.
OTHER
Desirable
• Able to work a range of hours with occasional overnight stays
• Right to work in the UK
• Full driving license.
