Description

The Centre for Ecology and Hydrology is part of the Natural Environment Research Council and is the UK's Centre of Excellence for integrated research in terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems and their interaction with the atmosphere. Working in partnership with the research community, policy makers, industry and society, CEH undertakes cutting edge research to deliver world class solutions to the most complex environmental challenges facing humankind.

About the role

Your key responsibilities will be:

  1. continual development of SHE management in CEH to a high professional level, ensuring full compliance, consistency and advice. Maintaining certification to OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 and managing the transition to ISO 45001
  2. lead, manage and monitor effective SHE support across all sites
  3. facilitate effective communication of CEH H&S issues
  4. provide in house training and support to scientific and infrastructure staff.

About you

You must have a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent or a General Certificate working towards Diploma.

You will have a strong record of providing health and safety advice to staff and managers at all levels and a proven understanding of ISO systems and audit.

You must have a proven ability to develop and implement policies and procedures at an organisational level.

You will have knowledge of working in a scientific laboratory environment and also preferably field work activities.

You will have excellent communication skills both presentational and written.
