Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have leadership responsibility for WSP’s Sustainability and Energy business and will be accountable for developing and growing the services offering by our Middle East business. The Sustainability and Energy business is well established and a recognised leader in green buildings, including rating systems such as LEED, Estidama and QSAS and building physics and modeling services. We also believe that opportunities are emerging to provide clients in the region with other services, including corporate sustainability advice, urban sustainability, greenhouse gas management and carbon mitigation projects. The successful candidate will need to maximize the potential of these existing, established services as well as driving the development and growth in these newer areas of opportunity.
Specific responsibilities will include:
• Provide leadership for the Sustainability and Energy team;
• Develop the business unit strategy and lead its implementation across unit teams;
• Responsible for financial performance of the team and support the Managing Director in achieving the targets for overall regional business;
• Direct the growth and development of the business;
• Build relationships with clients and potential clients;
• Promote WSP and our sustainability and energy services within the region;
• Direct development and implementation of WSP’s sustainability strategy through membership of WSP Middle East Sustainability Steering Group;
• Support the development of our growing team so that it has the appropriate level of resource and skills / capabilities to support delivery of business targets;
• Direction of major / strategic opportunities, bids and projects;
• Play an active role as sustainability expert in projects, providing project management as well as sustainability expertise.
In addition to the specific regional responsibilities identified, the successful candidate will also be responsible for connecting the Middle East business into WSP’s Global Operating Structure, specifically as a Regional Business Leader (RBL) within our Global Sustainability & Energy Service Line. The RBL will work collaboratively with colleagues in the global structure to develop new business opportunities, improve service to existing clients and serve as a conduit to transferring clients, projects, technical insights, experience and resources.

REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of the sustainability agenda, strategy and relevant policy measures and be able to discuss these confidently with clients and interest groups to determine the most appropriate type or mix of approaches and technologies.
Key skills should include:

• Experience in business development and marketing;

• Be able to efficiently plan, prioritise, act, and integrate activities into client and WSP systems, programs, and processes;
• Ability to co-ordinate and work within large multi-disciplinary teams;
• Communicate and work cross-functionally with all levels of management and technical functions; and
• Work effectively within a global client organisation, be flexible, diplomatic, and entrepreneurial.
