WCMC is now recruiting for a permanent Head of Programme to oversee species related activities. This key position, reporting to the Director of Programmes, will oversee the provision of focussed support to Multilateral Environment Agreements (MEAs) and national governments to address overexploitation, particularly by international wildlife trade, of species of international conservation concern whilst recognising the benefits of sustainable production and consumption. The post involves liaising closely with the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) and with the CITES Secretariat. This opportunity provides you with a role where you can lead the development and high quality delivery of a portfolio of projects at the science-policy interface that contribute to achieving the mission of UNEP-WCMC. You will hold a postgraduate qualification in (MSc or higher) in biological or environmental sciences, geography or a related discipline and will have a strong contemporary understanding of biodiversity in an international context. You will be experienced at motivating and leading a team to ensure the effective development and management of a science-based programme with multiple projects. Furthermore, you will have an understanding of the essential characteristics of successful partnership-building and will be able to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively. If you are looking for a rewarding and challenging post where you can impress us with your leadership, drive and teamwork, we want to hear from you. To apply, please complete a WCMC application form and send it together with your CV and a short covering letter to recruitment@unep-wcmc.org by 26th September 2014. Please note that this is not a UN post and we can only accept applications from those eligible to work in the UK. |
