The post is to be filled as of August 2014, and is initially scheduled to end on 31 July 2016. The office is located in Port-au-Prince in Haiti, with frequent travel to the Dominican Republic and Cuba.
This undertaking involves the implementation of two cross-border projects for food security and bio-diversity in the Caribbean bio-corridor in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
Objectives and responsibilities of the position
As Head of Project, you are responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring Welthun-gerhilfe's project activities in the project region in accordance with the framework specified as regards content, time schedules and finance.
Your most important duties are as follows:
- Coordination of programme strategy and contents with the representatives of the government ministries in charge; the organisation of civil society, target groups and representatives of po-tential donors as well as other stakeholders active in the Caribbean corridor
- Planning and coordination of the projects with the partners in Haiti and the Dominican Republic
- Ensuring the proper planning of material and financial resources in accordance with the applicable standards of Welthungerhilfe and co-financiers
- Ensuring the necessary flow of information and transparency of Welthungerhilfe activities in the country vis-a-vis the public
- Assisting the Regional Director in Haiti with design of new project suggestions in line with the "Carribean bio-corridor"
Your qualifications will include:
- A project-related (technical) degree, preferably in the field of agricultural sciences / rural development, or a level of education that is appropriate for the post
- Experience in resource management, bio-diversity and rural development
- Experience in outcome and impact-oriented project planning with partner organisations
- Several years of project experience of carrying out international (aid) agency projects - prefer-ably in the region
- Financial administration skills
- An ability and willingness to adapt to the cultural and political context in Haiti and Latin America
- Coordination and organisational skills - even under a high workload
- A very good command of French and Spanish, both written and spoken; a knowledge of Ger-man would be an asset
