Salary Range:  £50k-£70k (depending on experience) plus Benefits

Narec is seeking to appoint a Head of Programme Management to join our Major Assets and Projects Division.  The primary focus of the role is the delivery to time, cost and quality of a series of complex multi-discipline capital projects and complex component tests.

Narec is undertaking a significant capital programme of c. £110m of world leading test facilities including the world’s largest offshore wind test rig, a fit-for-purpose building and all associated infrastructure.  Working alongside the Project Sponsors the Head of Programme Management is to be responsible for delivery of the capital programme.  This role requires active management of external consultants and contractors as well as key stakeholders; in particular reporting to multiple funding agencies.

Once commissioned the facilities will be used to deliver a series of complex high value test requiring significant engineering interfaces.  These tests require to be a success for our clients and also commercially for Narec.

The role requires:

  • Chartered status or equivalent;
  • Tangible track record of leading the significant delivery in industry of complex, large (>£30M) capital projects to quality, cost and time.  Experience of either the wind generation industry or leading the delivery of a commercial test facility would be beneficial but is not essential;
  • Experience of leading the delivery of projects with multiple stakeholders, preferably including those from both the public and private sectors;
  • Experience of CDM requirements  and HSE management;
  • Experience administering and delivering to NEC type construction contracts, including risk management and claims management;
  • An honours degree or equivalent in a suitable engineering discipline;
  • Experience and knowledge of customer focused culture and managing performance;
  • Experience of rotating machinery and/or Offshore Wind would be an advantage.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Plan and deliver capital programmes and complex component tests;
  • Successfully handover to end users or customers completed projects;
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered within budget, timescale and specifications agreed with end-users or sponsor managers;
  • Lead project teams and ensure effective leadership is in place for all active projects;
  • Critically review business processes and performance to realise opportunities for continual improvement in customers relations and service delivery;
  • Develop necessary project tracking process and lead monthly reviews.

This is an exciting role providing an opportunity to be actively involved in the demonstration and deployment of Round 3 Offshore Wind Technology.
