Description

We are looking for an experienced, qualified and proven leader to manage the Centre’s work on marine and coastal biodiversity. The current priorities of the Marine Programme are focused on spatial data of biodiversity relevance, ecosystem service assessment, decision support tools and areas beyond national jurisdiction. Maintaining close and effective relationships with the Senior Management Team, you will participate in the Centre’s strategic planning and will lead the development and high quality delivery of a portfolio of projects in line with this.

As well as managing a diverse team of expert staff, you will work closely with other programmes and staff within the Centre in areas of cross-programmatic interest and collaborate with a range of international partners to ensure projects are developed and delivered successfully. Furthermore, you will lead the communication of the Programme’s activities and successes, representing the Marine Programme and the Centre’s work both internally and externally.

You will hold a postgraduate qualification (MSc or higher) in a relevant discipline, such as natural, biological or environmental sciences, and will have experience in managing and analysing marine and coastal biodiversity information with the aim of informing conservation management and policy decision making. A strong track record in fundraising together with good organisational capacity, interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate a team towards a common objective are also essential.

If you are looking for a rewarding and challenging post where you can impress us with your leadership, drive and teamwork, we want to hear from you. To apply, please complete a WCMC application form and send it together with your CV and a short covering letter to recruitment@unep-wcmc.org by 17th October 2014.

Please note that this is not a UN post and we can only accept applications from those eligible to work in the UK.
