Within this institutional framework EFI is now establishing a Regional Office Central Eastern Europe at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria (BOKU). The EFI Regional Office EFICEEC Head Office will start its work in early 2010. EFICEEC will start operating as a network of about thirty research partner institutions comprising twelve core partners in Central and Eastern European countries.

In collaboration with BOKU, EFI herewith invites applications for the position of the Head of the EFI Regional Office Central and Eastern Europe. This position offers a challenging opportunity to work within a stimulating international environment in a senior position.

It should also act as a catalyst in developing research and capacity building projects and increase the potential for funding.

The post will involve in particular:
• Managing and coordinating the Regional Office
• Initiating new projects and conducting research; and
• Strengthening the EFI network within the Central Eastern European forest research organizations as well as other relevant organizations in the region.

Applicants should have at least five years of international experience in coordinating or managing large projects, programmes or units, a PhD or equivalent in forest sciences or related fields and

• Forest sector policy and economics,
• Land use change in the context of climate change and bioenergy,
• Forest ecosystem management.

Fluency in English as well as excellent research co-ordination, communication and managerial skills are necessities. We especially appreciate a capability of creating an inspiring team work
environment.

The head of the Regional Office will report to the EFI headquarters and will work in close cooperation with other regional offices as well as the partners of EFICEEC.

The post will be based at the EFI Regional Office EFICEEC, cohosted at the Department of Economics and Social Sciences and the Department of Forest and Soil Sciences, University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), Austria. We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience and skills. He/she will be employed at BOKU, office premises at the Department of Economics and Social Sciences, and is expected to take up the post in early 2010 (as soon as possible).
