Description

Based at RSPB UK Headquarters, Sandy

Permanent Full Time 37.5 hours

Salary Range £42,000 to £47,000 per annum

Some of the world’s most important habitats, especially tropical rainforests, are under enormous threat.  Are you up for the challenge of helping us do something about them?  With our partners, we have already set up two pioneering rainforest projects, in Indonesia (100kha) and in Sierra Leone (70kha) and we need to develop these fully.  We are planning more innovative rainforest projects, and we’re also looking to extend our work into another priority habitats.  We’re pursuing innovative funding streams to secure the long-term viability of these projects, and we want the lessons learned from our work to influence how global funding mechanisms, such as REDD, operate in the future. In addition to the local workforce (~400 staff), these projects also provide benefits for local communities.  Help us protect the most diverse ecosystems on the planet.

If you are up for the challenge, you’ll need to be an excellent manager, ideally with a background in conservation, with good negotiating skills and an ability to operate in different countries.  You’ll need to travel, and be able to spend significant time away from home.  Salary will depend on skills and experience.

Closing Date 6 November 2012  Interview Date 13 November 2012
