BirdLife Australia is seeking someone to lead a small team responsible for financial management of the organisation. BirdLife Australia has been Australia’s voice for the conservation of birds since 1901. BirdLife works nationally managing projects, developing advocacy and research initiatives and building partnerships to achieve outstanding conservation results for our native birds and their habitats. A membership-based organisation, BirdLife's achievements are derived from combining the skills, enthusiasm and commitment of 10,000 members and 25,000 supporters and volunteers. Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the board you will take responsibility for financial management of the organisation. Leading a small team you will ensure compliance with statutory requirements, prepare monthly board reports, enhance systems and provide financial advice and guidance to branches and project managers. You possess experience in a comparable role, can demonstrate reporting and systems skills and are a clear communicator able to work at all levels from the board table to the volunteer field observatory. You’re tertiary qualified in accounting or a related discipline and are a member of a recognised accounting body. Ideally, you understand the financial management and regulatory issues impacting the Australian not for profit sector but, importantly you have a commitment to working in the conservation sector.
