Head of Development

This is an exciting new position in the organisation, with responsibilities covering marketing, fundraising and donor relationship management. The successful applicant will have a first rate appreciation of the work of the WLT, understanding key messages, targets and achievements and the ability to portray them in a way that will inspire people to support the Trust.

We are seeking a committed individual with experience of writing and implementing a development strategy and a proven record of achieving dynamic growth across a range of different areas. They will have an excellent understanding of the fundraising legal framework and best practice together with experience of managing budgets, including planning, forecasting and analysing performance.

A strategic and creative thinker, the successful candidate will have an interest in and knowledge of wildlife conservation, together with an empathy with the vision, values and strategic aims of WLT.

Key responsibilities

• To initiate a development and fundraising strategy to support WLT’s conservation programme into the future, leading and managing related activities. This will include devising a longterm legacy strategy, and managing applications to charitable trusts, grant making bodies and companies.
• To be familiar with the relationship management database and ensure efficient and effective administrative systems for increasing WLT’s donor base and developing relationships with existing donors. To include keeping up-to-date with current fundraising legislation and standards and ensuring compliance.
• To be a key player and, where appropriate, take the lead on WLT events.
• To work collaboratively with other areas of the charity’s operations to achieve WLT’s overall strategic objectives, and lead and motivate members of the WLT team, whether they are employees, contractors, volunteers or interns.

This is a fulltime role, based in the Trust’s Suffolk headquarters at Halesworth.

Salary: dependent on qualifications and experience
