Description

This is an exciting time to join Somerset Wildlife Trust and we are looking for a passionate, experienced ecologist to develop and lead our landscape-scale conservation strategy. Our challenge is to restore Somerset’s natural environment following Lawton’s approach for bigger, better and more joined up ecological networks identifying opportunities through a Nature Recovery Network.

One of the essential and most ambitious aspects of our Strategic Plan is delivering biodiversity objectives not only on land we manage, but also on land owned and managed by others.  This approach is built on our knowledge and expertise within partnership working.  We will aim to embed our objectives for increasing biodiversity with those who make decisions and have influence over the way in which land is managed.

Based at our Taunton office but with the need for regular travel across the county you will identify opportunities for Somerset Wildlife Trust to achieve positive outcomes for nature through strategy, conservation policy and project development and delivery.

If you are passionate about restoring nature at a large scale, developing successful partnerships and have demonstrable experience as an ecologist this senior role could be the next step in your career. You will be joining a friendly, committed and supportive team with line management responsibilities of several officers. Somerset Wildlife Trust offers a great package including pension contribution, life insurance, payment of professional fees and a great working environment.

Deadline for applications is 5pm Thursday 12th September.
Interviews will be held on Tuesday 17th September in Taunton.
