Description

Job Purpose: Make a positive contribution to the Welsh Government Woodland Estate through careful supervision of sustainable forest harvesting.  Supervise harvesting contracts to ensure they run in a safe and environmentally responsible way. Supervise the annual felling programme in forest blocks throughout the Dyfi area, monitoring weekly timber stocks and raising site problems with the Harvesting Contracts Manager.

Job Specific Criteria:

1)    ESSENTIAL: Experience in forestry or supervision

2)    DESIRABLE: Experience in all Microsoft office applications and MyNRW.

3)    DESIRABLE: A sound knowledge of forest operations and health, safety and environmental implementation.

4)    DESIRABLE: The ability to use Geographic Information Systems to make maps that illustrate forest operations.

5)    ESSENTIAL – A full driving licence

Welsh Language Requirements:

Due consideration has been given to the Welsh language requirements for the post and the existing skills within the team.  Taking this into consideration the Welsh language skills required for the post are at Level 3.
