Description

This role involves managing projects, to support local people to deal with local environmental concerns, through their own communities. This includes promoting a healthy lifestyle and recruiting and supporting volunteers, along with providing advice and training to help individuals and groups implement their own projects.

The post holder will support the local BTCV Senior Community Project Officer in delivering all aspects of BTCV’s work in Hampshire and occasionally beyond.

The post holder’s role will include:

• Setting up and running half and one-day long, practical conservation volunteering projects.
• Helping BTCV’s network of independent community groups to deliver their own projects, through giving them advice and support, attending site visits and running conservation forums.
• Assisting with the setting up of new groups from scratch, by enthusing local communities, organising and delivering training, and supporting individuals to become constituted, self-sustaining groups.

The successful candidate is likely to have previous experience of leading groups of volunteers, carrying out practical conservation volunteering and working with community groups to help them successfully manage areas for conservation and educational purposes. Our projects work with volunteers from a wide variety of ages, abilities and backgrounds. The successful candidate is likely to have experience of working with many sectors of the community.

BTCV supports a flexible approach to determining the actual days and hours worked by the post holder, although flexibility will be required as the working days, and delivery times may vary from week to week and will include weekend and evening work.

This post is for maternity leave cover and will last for up to 12 months.

A full driving licence (for a manual transmission vehicle) is required (which has been held for a minimum of one year) as the post holder has use of company vehicles.
