ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Habitat Evaluation Technician uses various means to determine if field sites match model results. This may include one or more of the following functions:

  • Locates sites from GPS coordinates
  • Records locations with GPS
  • Maintains detailed records of findings
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma and 6 months of related experience
  • Experience operating GPS devices
  • Experience performing physical work

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to read and interpret  maps
  • Ability to perform physical work, sometime under adverse conditions or in inclement weather
  • Ability to identify the natural vegetation of Ohio
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and safe driving record are required to operate Conservancy-owned vehicles to perform job duties.
ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION
  • The position is scheduled to be no more than 35 hours a week for four weeks, beginning on June 24th 2013. Non-standard work hours will be required.

AUTO SAFETY POLICY

This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with the Conservancy's Auto Safety Program.  Employees may not drive Conservancy-owned/leased vehicles, rental cars, or personal vehicles on behalf of the Conservancy if considered "high risk drivers."  Please see further details in the Auto Safety Program document available at www.nature.org/careers. 

Employment in this position will be contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, which may include a review of the prospective employee's motor vehicle record.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT

May work alone in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain, and under physically demanding circumstances. These conditions:

  • require physical exertion and/or muscular strain
  • present frequent possibility of injury
  • require long hours in isolated settings
