.M. Systems Group, Inc. (IMSG) www.imsg.com is currently seeking to hire a Habitat Conservation Program Specialist to support a range of projects for the NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) Headquarters Restoration Center (RC) located in Silver Spring, MD.  The candidate will be a member of teams addressing issues that directly impact the health and resiliency of coastal and marine habitats.  These include adaptation to climate change, integration of coastal management and habitat conservation across the agency, prioritization of habitat conservation projects, and planning and implementation of regional habitat restoration initiatives.  The candidate will also assist with out-year program planning and strengthening constituent partnerships.  An overriding theme for all these activities will be to promote opportunities to increase integration across the three divisions in OHC.  

 Duties:

  • Participate in the Strategic Program Development Group and contribute to progress on office-level priorities and issues.
  • Participate on the Coastal Integration Core Team to ensure habitat related issues are being adequately addressed.
  • Support the Office’s involvement in regional habitat restoration initiatives.
  • Assist in developing an Annual Action Plan that identifies both office-wide and divisional priorities and actions for the upcoming fiscal year.
  • Support out-year program planning and budgeting.

 Qualifications:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of climate change issues and impacts desirable.
  • Ability to be a team player and enjoy working in a team environment.
  • Ability to summarize diverse information sources into a concise issue paper or talking points is valuable.
  • Ability to take general direction to meet project deadlines.
  • Strong problem solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in office productivity software (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Candidate should possess a Masters degree or a Bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience in one of the marine or aquatic sciences, fishery biology, ecology, natural resource management, marine and coastal management policy, or habitat conservation.
